Applied Kinesiology (AK)

Dr. Goodstein has been using Applied Kinesiology since 1986. Not all chiropractors use AK. Only a small percentage understand how to incorporate this procedure within their practice. Dr. Goodstein is one of only a few chiropractors in Westchester County truly doing this work.

What is Applied Kinesiology?
Applied Kinesiology is a branch of Chiropractic that was discovered in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, DC. It is a system of evaluation and diagnostics using muscle testing as an indicator of body function. A skilled AK practitioner can not only locate pinched nerves in the spine, but also areas of malfunction throughout the body, inclusive of the feet, knees, hips, hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. AK also allows the doctor to test many other aspects of body function, such as Hiatal Hernia, gait and shoulder function, and postural testing. Nutritional testing for vitamins, minerals, herbs, glandulars, and drinking water, as well as testing for food and environmental sensitivities can also be performed. Dr. Goodstein offers all of these services to his patients.

How is an AK Chiropractor different from other Chiropractors?
AK chiropractors use muscle testing as an important tool to check body function. This is done on each and every office visit. A traditional chiropractor, not trained in Applied Kinesiology, will not use muscle testing in their evaluations. Therefore they will not have access to vital information about the body's function that an AK practitioner might otherwise possess. Many people find that once they have been to an AK practitioner they will only seek out other AK chiropractors if they must travel of move to another location.
